For some people, running a marathon is a race to the bar. Some choose to run 26.21 miles before they get there, and some choose to run 3.1. This year we are offering a zer0K for those of you who want to contribute to a good cause without actually going the distance. For just $20 dollars get a free drink and a finisher tee shirt.
The Run for the Lakes zer0K consists of lining up at the race line, then crossing it for your finish. Upon finishing the race you can be satisfied with knowing your money went to a good cause, you didn’t have to run 13.1 miles and you get a free beer.
So why should you participate in the zer0K?
1. You can tell people you’re going to run a marathon. Okay, so maybe that’s a stretch, but realistically you ARE participating in a marathon and even though you aren’t running, your money is still going to a good cause.
2. The ONLY training required is eating and drinking. That’s self-explanatory really.
3. You can make a dent on the bar stool instead of the couch. A change of scenery is good for you, and drinking beer feels even better when you know you're participating in a good cause.
4. Your only expectation is to run to the nearest food truck and drink a beer while wearing your Run for the Lakes zer0K tee shirt. We are setting the bar low on this one guys.
Let be real, running a marathon is for a certain type of super determined (maybe crazy) individual and all of us aren’t cut out for it. But that doesn’t mean non-runners should miss out on the fun of Race Day. Sign up for the 2016 Run for the Lakes zer0K – you won’t be disappointed or exhausted. Sign-up here.
